Replica of the
slave instrument that evolved into the modern banjo; number
of strings and neck configuration vary with time period, 1790
- 1840; custom-made to each owner's requirements with authentic
period materials and construction techniques. Standard configuration:
nylon strings, ground hog hide head and "Old Plantation"
style peghead (shown above), four or five string setup. Various
hard woods available for neck, pegs, tailpiece, etc. Necks shown
are sassafras wood with black walnut tuning pegs.
